The fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, is a cherished model organism in genetics research. This bronze sculpture was commissioned by a New York City researcher to honor an exceptional postdoctoral fellow whose contributions were instrumental in initiating the lab’s first Drosophila melanogaster studies.
